more infighting, and more criticism, this time from an irrelevant celeb!

UPDATE: https://ca.celebrity.yahoo.com/news/ariana-grande-slams-rumors-jennette-mccurdy-sam-cat-155500244-us-weekly.html

I didn't call this a "rivalry" last week for nothing, didn't I?

¿no llame esto una "rivalidad" la semana pasada para nada,no?

On a more serious note, even though this is celeb gossip & not politics, this is a perfect example of what overreacting to any situation does: it makes everything else worse instead of better! Case in point: "I wish I could explain everything as thoroughly as I would like to, but unfortunately a simpler explanation is all I can write... I was put in an uncomfortable, compromising, unfair situation (many of you have guessed what it is), and I had to look out for me." Know who said this?

(excuse me while I poke fun at the ridiculous concept that is "TwitLonger"... poke poke poke poke!)
& the response: "I hate addressing rumors, and I hate gossip, but this is really bothering me. Jennette and I agreed upfront that we would be treated equally on this show in all regards (as we should be, considering we each work just as hard as the other on this show)... the rumors circulating about our contracts and our salary not being equal are absolutely ridiculous and false. I don't know who's putting these idiotic quotes out there, but I thought I'd straighten it out and try to end this nonsense."

Now you know the sources... now you know that this is more lopsided than everybody might have thought! I have a few thoughts of my own for you people:

  1. Jennette not attending an awards show in which her show won, & in which her character only came in 2nd to Ari's character & not anybody else's character(s) shows (no pun intended) that something must have gone right instead of wrong throughout the fall & winter for them to make it that far, together instead of separately... Then again, does this show any of you people what I think it shows me: that Nickelodeon's well-known secrecy with regards to its shows is secretly slipping out of its grasp, & combined with the racism controversy involving comedian (& actual Garden Stater, instead of just honorary Garden Stater) Stephen Colbert at sister network (Viacom) Comedy Central, shows (again, no pun intended) the new company's fragility, at least in contrast to the original Viacom (look it up, people...), which could especially rely on the CBS lineup to singlehandedly keep its entire company afloat?
  2. Excuse me while I comment on the business side of a related company: Just a few days ago, this headline appeared in the Record/Herald NewsFlow of applicants for N.J.'s revamped incentive programs - See more at: http://www.northjersey.com/towns/tax-breaks-show-early-gains-1.842548?page=all#sthash.BCqy98yE.tRG2I6dg.dpuf - In which it was mentioned that Sony Music was planning on moving 50 jobs over from N.Y.C. into the tiny local town of Rutherford, hoping to take advantage of a $1.6 million grant from Trenton to move more "big business(es)" here to Jersey; considering the state's struggles throughout this recession, dare I say we need more moves like this on Trenton's part, instead of fewer?
  3. Speaking of Sony Music: http://variety.com/2007/music/news/nickelodeon-sony-pact-for-tunes-1117966962/ This was what brought this current bunch of people & shows to us in the 1st place... Without that deal, from (as mentioned above) 2007, we would've never heard of any of these people, their shows, & perhaps the network as a whole could've been on the verge of bankruptcy, or worse, completely folding, thus ending its chances & its future after 30+ years on the air, at least back then... Now, at 35, instead of turning that success into another "dynasty" era, in which the network would most likely manage to dominate the Nielsen ratings even more than it did back in the 1990s, when variety was what carried the network to its success!
  4. This whole fake (you heard it here 1st, people!) controversy reminds me so much of the crazy politics in the Canadian province of Quebec (A.K.A. my "home away from home"), it shouldn't even be funny... As I told you people to do with the original Viacom, I would encourage you people to check out the 1980 & 1995 (LOL) Quebec referendums, which almost separated Quebec from the rest of Canada... Unlike this controversy, the separatists (mostly French Quebecers) tried those tactics twice instead of just once, each time producing similar disappointment for the separatists both times! (UPDATE: the Quebec Liberals won!)
a relatively narrow margin in 1980...
...led to the closest vote ever in 1995!
DISCLAIMER: I want the Quebec Liberals to win the next election... The last thing I need, after having visited Montreal almost a dozen times so far, is to see another referendum in which (judging by the '95 results) I wouldn't be surprised at all to see some Parti Québécois rigging done in order to finally (in their crooked minds) separate that province from the rest of Canada!

(end of Canadian/Quebec political rant)

(Before I get back into these new controversies, 1st, 2 more DISCLAIMERS: 1: I have no inside information whatsoever... besides, why would I claim to have any of that, in the 1st place, when the closest I've come to any of these people has been their work, whether that's been on TV, or on the radio?)

(2: I know I've usually poked fun at my own religious faith at times, but I feel this Bible verse is strangely relevant:)

1 Tim. 4:12: "Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity."

Another day, another awards show, another set of controversies... This time, it involves the aftermath of this:

controversy? who would've thought?
nope... no controversies... there's nothing to see here...
Well, putting those results aside, you'd think that everything was fine "behind the scenes"; after all, this happened backstage after the show & found itself on social media almost immediately:
See that last hashtag? #SoGood? Well, to that, I say: #notanymore!(it's 'cause he's been there longer than some of them have been alive...)

http://news.yahoo.com/child-star-pocalypse-nickelodeons-biggest-names-war-other-130222136.html

Do you see that URL? I'm sure if the hashtags didn't catch your attention, then that URL definitely did! The thing is, the rivalry (yes, I just went there!) between all those co-stars/competitors/etc. goes back quite a few years:

"If you can get past the neon colors, brain-melting interstitials, and brazen attempts at launching pop music careers, some of these shows are actually funny! Disney's Selena Gomez vehicle Wizards of Waverly Place had an unexpectedly strange sense of humor and deep roster of talented guest stars while Good Luck, Charlie is as clever and heartfelt as any network sitcom."

Now, normally, I'd just dismiss the Disney Channel's track record, since I never watched either of those 2 shows myself, but for the sake of this post, I'll just completely pretend the network didn't produce those actors/actresses-turned-something else!

Back to the present day: Actually, no, back to this:
the beginning of the decade also unfortunately signaled the beginning of the end of the network's dominance...
Given the circumstances, you would expect the previous decade to be represented quite often that year, & it was, but as with any new era in anything, there were some new arrivals:
the 2nd consecutive time wouldn't be the last consecutive time...
But guess what premiered immediately afterward!
stuff like this is why I don't use the term "rivalry" loosely...
the following year:
3rd time's the charm, ain't it?
but then...
the streak was broken in 2012, but the infighting was just beginning!
Keep the order of these wins/nominations in mind as you continue forward... Just as all the dynasties that have overtaken professional sports in recent decades have almost immediately been replaced by new, multiple championship-winning, dynasties, all the above shows ended their runs in roughly chronological order, to be replaced by new dominant shows, leading to this:
the tables have turned...
Then, there's this: "Anyway, Nickelodeon's microcosm of in-house, on-brand entertainment took a big hit this week when Sam & Cat, their #1 rated show and the current home of increasingly high-profile singer Ariana Grande, mysteriously halted production. According to TMZ, the troubles seem to surround co-star Jennette McCurdy, who was a mysterious no-show at the network's Kids' Choice Awards last weekend despite Sam & Cat nearly sweeping all the TV categories. Taking to Twitter, the actress assured fans that her absence had nothing to do with the racy lingerie photo that had leaked online previously, but that it definitely had to do with "how Nickelodeon treated me." TMZ reports that that McCurdy's alleged mistreatment boils down to a too-small paycheck, particularly compared to Grande's: "We're told the pint-sized star is pissed that Grande makes WAY MORE money than her and she's been trying to renegotiate her deal ... so far to no avail." Nickelodeon is apparently playing hardball, halting production entirely and declining to renew the show for another season. Which, by the way, did you know that on Nickelodeon each season is 40 episodes? 40! That sounds exhausting! I would demand a raise as well. Keep raging against that machine, Jennette McCurdy."

I'm not taking sides there, since I haven't caught a single episode of that show yet, & the only reason I'll give myself to catch it is if the show does get cancelled! There is another controversy, however, in which I will take the irrelevant (& quite unkempt, if I may say so myself) former (roughly mid-2000s) Nickelodeon star Drake Bell to task, since, again, I consider him irrelevant, whereas he thinks his opinion is the "end-all/be-all" of show business: "Meanwhile, Drake Bell, former star of Nickelodeon's Drake & Josh, gave an interview to BuzzFeed in which he puts his peers on blast. Singling out Ariana Grande he said, "Ariana Grande is a billionaire before she’s been an artist. You have to work to be able to appreciate what you have, and what work did she ever have to do in her life?" Told!...excuse me, Yahoo? I thought you were committed to impartiality? You ****ers have us to thank for her start, late last June, in downtown Newark's Prudential Center... Without that, do you think we'd have heard her often between then & that emotionally charged AMA performance last November? What have we heard from Alexander Graham Bell in that time, aside from criticizing people with whom he never worked a day in his ****ing life? Since he's apparently into the whole Occupy "movement", let me single that part of his criticism out: "...a billionaire before she’s been an artist..." Well, if she's a "billionaire"... oops; I almost forgot his current financial status:
(that's his current financial status!)
'Cause of one album, another one that's been put on hold 'cause none of her collaborators have been able to avoid legal trouble, a few isolated singles, & a few occasional live performances, including that 1st 1 here in the Garden State, she's a billionaire already, you ****er? When was the last time your stupid show reached the top spot in the Nielsen ratings for any given week, lemme me see: never? ...& **** you too, Buzzfeed... You've done nothing but stalk celebrities left & right, & then expect them to give 2 ***** about you... No wonder Buzzfeed almost never gets mentioned outside of social media! Go pick on people who are as feeble-minded as you are, & leave the up-&-coming people alone already, before I personally make you do so!
(that's the state you can thank for starting another current career with a bright future!)
